Instructional Designer, Learning & Development

GENERAL SUMMARY Designs learning & development programs, including formal classes, eLearnings, online courses and self-study sessions for GID contact center agents and leadership. Designs and delivers exempt level leadership and management facilitated and virtual courses. Develops and updates course content and coordinates learning curriculum. Conducts assessment and analysis to identify new development needs and recommends training methods accordingly. A brand consumer and advocate for Gap Inc. brands.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Develop metrics and systems to monitor, evaluate, and review the quality and effectiveness of learning programs for continuous improvement.
•Identifies opportunities for learning programs based on feedback, emerging trends, and market research.
•Consults and interacts with business leaders to gain knowledge of customer performance issues and opportunities to construct learning solutions
•Performs needs, job and task analysis and scope projects to determine recommended solutions to improve organizational performance; articulates results to stakeholders
•Evaluate existing training programs and new programs for relevance, ROI and business impact. Develop valid training evaluation tools that evaluate behavioral and business impact to proactively identify course improvement opportunities
•Create intellectually challenging and personally engaging learning experiences that integrate multiple delivery channels, including but not limited to instructor-led, experiential, online, and mobile learning.
•Assist with coordination and delivery of learning programs; manage program logistics and schedules.
•Facilitate training session’s train-the-trainer sessions, pilot classes and leadership trainings where applicable.
•Delivery of Gap Inc. training as needed.
•Select appropriate training and performance support elements for solution, e.g. instructor-led training, web-based training, virtual instruction, on-the-job training, etc.
•Select and develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, learning and design templates, multimedia visual aids, storyboards, tutorials and reference works
•Effectively communicate project scope, status, and requirements to all stakeholders
•Create detailed instructional plans to specify course design. Define performance outcomes at eh course and module levels and write measureable performance objectives.
•Mentor Trainers in designing training, facilitating and developing business relationships.
•Provide evaluation and feedback to Trainers regarding facilitation and design work.
•Manage the creation, delivery and quality assurance of instructionally effective content
•Research and propose new, innovative training modalities focused on the unique needs of adult learners
•Knowledge of adult learning theories, key instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAT, etc) to design and develop recommended solutions
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS: This position will interact with corporate business partners, call center agents, trainers in other areas of the organization and all levels of Call Center leadership. This position may also contact support vendors who provide software/hardware or content for use in the Training department.

Education, training, experience:
1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:
•Minimum 5 years of Web Design, Multimedia Training Design, and/or Instructional Design experience.
•Subject matter expert in Training and Adult Education Theory.
•Demonstrated ability to think strategically and systemically and achieve results collaborating across organizational boundaries
•Knowledge of current thought leadership, trends and practices in the disciplines related to leadership development
•Documented experience in design, development and delivery of exempt level management and leadership development
•Experienced analyst and highly skilled in communication and writing.
•Minimum 5 years of facilitation experience.
•Highly skilled with PC skills: Microsoft Office—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Access or other software/database skills, Sharepoint
•Highly skilled with eLearning and SCORM compliant web-based development tools such as Adobe Captivate, Adobe Connect, HTML, audio-visual technology
•Experienced user of project management skills and tools to manage multiple projects and to define and meet milestones, communicate issues and risks while maintaining control over quality, cost and schedule
•Minimum 3 years experience in Learning Management Systems and keeping knowledge up-to-date
•Minimum 3 years of Call Center experience
2) Physical requirements:
•Requires standing for long periods of time while training a class (5-8 hours per day)
•Requires an interactive, hands-on training approach through walking around the training environment for various periods of time
•Ability to coordinate and setup learning environments, activities and materials
•Ability to flex work schedule to meet business needs, including nights and weekends
3) Minimum educational level:
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
4) Minimum experience:
•5 years of experience in training delivery and instructional design of multimedia learning applications and classroom-based learning
•Knowledge of call center, selling, and apparel terminology
•Design and development of leadership development programs
