Job description:
The Human Resource Generalist who has a proven experience working in a fast-paced environment with a strong background in employee relations, recruitment/on-boarding, and who has a collaborative approach to fostering a high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, high quality standards, goal attainment, and ongoing development of an engaged workforce.

Operate as an HR business partner with other teams in the organization and has the ability to develop, manage, and showcase strong employee relation skills (providing advice on the application of policies and procedures, performance management, disciplinary actions, and supervisory training needs, etc.).

Coaches managers and helps them to be effective leaders and great coaches for their direct reports.

Has a proven ability to interpret and explain HR policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations, and have a pro-active approach to staying abreast on the latest federal and state HR laws and how they could impact the Council.

Acts as Program Administrator for key HR functions: Compensation, Recruitment, On-Boarding, Performance Management Program, Benefits, Training, etc.

Manages and analyzes employment-related data and prepare GSUSA-required and any federal/state required, reports. Ability to research and analyze data for special projects.

Manage and adhere to a budget.

Develops and/or coordinates training and other development opportunities for employees throughout the Council.

Maintains all personnel records and ensures HR compliance with organizational records retention and security guidelines.

Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information. Adhere to all council policies and procedures.

Ensures all activities are in compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.

Administers the council’s performance management program; trains staff in coaching and feedback techniques and in conducting formal performance appraisals.

Analyzes local, regional, and national salary and benefit surveys and data; develops and recommends strategies for attaining the council’s compensation philosophy; administers salary and benefit programs.

Develops and/or conducts comprehensive recruiting efforts for all council staff, including seasonal and temporary.

Actively support the Council's commitment to diversity and equal employment opportunity policy.

Understand and operate within Girl Scout policies, standards, and procedures. Support the council’s Strategic Learning initiative.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Four or more current years as an HR Generalist with familiarity in all phases of HR Management.

Knowledge of human resources practices, including ADA, FMLA, EEO, employment and labor laws, etc.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills, ability to make effective presentations and ability to interact effective with staff and volunteers at all levels of the organization.

Experience with conflict resolution.
