Job description:
This position spans more than one area of functional specialization (compensation, benefits and associate relations). Serves as a HR Business Partner to the functional area of the HR staff in the plants. Serves as the liaison between the HRD and the plant HR representatives. Responsible for coordination and execution of programs and processes at the plant local level such as recruitment, orientation, LOA and personnel files. Support the HR Director with local administration of Corporate HR activities ensuring smooth plant implementation of policies, procedures and processes.


• Supports and facilitates critical activities to improve associate engagement; works to develop positive relationships with Plant HR representatives to promote communications and foster confidence in the Human Resource team in the plants.
• Works directly with HRD to improve plant associate relations and morale.
• Supervises plant HR meetings HR communications.
• Works with the Corporate HR Training and Development Specialist to ensure training is provided for HR plant representatives and associates in conjunction with corporate objectives.
• Is recognized as the local HR business partner for managers and supervisors in order to build confidence and capabilities in performance and associate relations.
• Interact and communicate with local operating departments as necessary to produce cohesive efforts towards accomplishing corporate goals. Reinforce an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
• Supervises administration of local hiring, compensation, benefits, training, health and safety and legal compliance as defined by corporate standards.
• Assists Corporate HR Director with special projects and reports as needed.
• Track HR metrics to identify areas for improvement. Identify and recommend countermeasures to correct identified misses to goals.
• Is the point of contact for local managers in assessing plant organizational structure, development and career/succession planning as defined by corporate business plans and objectives.
• Examines associate files to answer inquiries and provides information to HRD.
• Compiles data from personnel records and prepares reports for HRD.
• Conducts HR audits in plants and prepares reports with results to HRD.
• Makes plant visits to assess HR function and reports progress as well as recommendations for improvement to the HRD.

• 3-5 years as a Plant HR representative.
• 1-2 years corporate HR experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively and expeditiously to HRD on all plant HR matters and devise and recommend countermeasures.
• Ability to lead teams, projects and corporate directives.
• Thorough understanding of HR body of knowledge and accepted practices.
• Broad knowledge of health and welfare benefits products and practices.
• Ability to supervise and review and discipline direct report (s).
• Ability to recognize improvements and make recommendations by presenting all key facts, costs and potential solutions.
• Ability to envision the “big picture” and react accordingly.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to design presentations and communicate contents to various types of audiences. Use of Power Point and Publisher software is critical.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.
• Ability to deal with problems involving complex and confidential
situations and exercise professional judgment at all times.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, familiar with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills to compose and/or edit written materials.
• Ability to establish constructive working relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Stays informed of current practice developments within the profession, and uses educational and training opportunities to ensure continual professional competence.
• Possesses organizational, priority/time management, problem solving, conflict resolution, and judgment.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Plant HR representatives in Indiana, Alabama and Ohio. Travel will be required about 25%.


• 3-5 years as a Plant HR representative.
• 1-2 years corporate HR experience.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college; preferable in human resources or related field and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
